Leeds United loanee Jack Harrison drops biggest hint yet on his future at Everton

Everton have spent very little this season on incoming transfers, instead relying on deferred payments and loan acquisitions to bolster an otherwise threadbare side.

After all, they desperately needed reinforcements but lacked the financial might to act on those necessities. This would later turn out to be an intelligent move, with two alleged financial breaches having since emerged to send the Toffees sprawling down the Premier League table following their deduction. One of those summer signings, Jack Harrison, has managed to have an instant impact under Sean Dyche’s leadership despite the turmoil. And even with his reported £30m price tag, a figure they will surely seek to negotiate to a lower fee, there is certainly expected to be interest in making his loan move a permanent one.

What did Jack Harrison say about his future at Everton?

Having attested that he has enjoyed his time at the club thus far, Harrison’s work ethic and attacking ability arguably make him the perfect Dyche player, especially in the short term.It would therefore explain why the £90k-a-week whiz has started 16 of the club’s last 17 Premier League matches since his return from injury. And now, in an effort to repay that faith, the 26-year-old has come out in an interview to detail just how much he is enjoying his time at Goodison Park, relegation threats and all.

He noted: ‘It’s been great so far. I’ve played in different positions and in a different style as well.‘The group has welcomed me in fantastically and I couldn’t have asked for anymore, with them and the coaching staff and performance team as well behind the scenes who helped me come back from injury and put me in a good spot physically on the pitch. It’s been great to be part of and I’m really happy.’

How good has Jack Harrison been for Everton?

Although his offensive figures are far from outstanding, the ease with which he has come in and adapted to Dyche’s system cannot be understated.Especially for a team that could not really afford any players not pulling their weight. He has more than done that though, as a hard-working winger offering a fine foil for Dwight McNeil on the opposite flank.

And, fortunately enough, he blends his unrelenting work ethic with a creativity and goal threat which has come at opportune moments this term. After all, with three goals and three assists in 17 Premier League games, it has not been a wholly disappointing campaign. Not to mention that his underlying statistics paint a far greater picture of his star qualities, as he averages 1.1 key passes, 1.1 tackles and 4.9 ball recoveries per game in the Premier League, via Sofascore.

Such unflinching efforts to both press and attack unsurprisingly saw him branded a ‘beast’ by journalist Beren Cross during his spell at Leeds United, a label which still rings true today. The hope is that he can add to his solid attacking figures for the season and start to establish a gap away from the relegation zone, or else threaten to fall to back-to-back relegations with two different clubs.
