According to Sky Sport Italia, Sunderland AFC has surpassed Real Betis in the race to sign Roma midfielder Enzo Le Fée, with the English club hoping to bring him in on loan with the option to buy.
Le Fée, who joined Roma from Rennes last summer for about €23 million, has struggled to settle in Italy. Since Claudio Ranieri became head coach, his playing time has decreased dramatically, with only six appearances in Serie A this season. This lack of opportunities has piqued the interest of several clubs, including Sunderland, who are presently fourth in the Championship.
Régis Le Bris, Sunderland’s coach, had previously handled Le Fée at Lorient and is eager to rejoin with him. The club sees Le Fée as an important addition to their midfield as they attempt to strengthen their roster during the current transfer window. According to reports, Sunderland is enthusiastic about finalising a loan deal that might lead to a permanent transfer if they win promotion this season.
Real Betis, on the other hand, was initially in talks to buy Le Fée but has apparently slipped behind Sunderland in the process. The issue remains fluid as Roma weighs its alternatives regarding the player, who has not made an impression since moving to the Stadio Olimpico.
