Stevie Clifford has confessed that he does not believe Ianis Hagi will ever play for

Rangers again and expects him to be sold after this summer’s European Championship.

The Romanian midfielder is on loan in La Liga with Deportivo Alaves this season,

although he has struggled for form, recording only one assist in 14 league outings.

Hagi has two and a half years left on his contract at Ibrox,

but Clifford believes Philippe Clement will try to move the 25-year-old at the conclusion of the season for

around £5 million.

and in the summer we will probably have to sell a few and regroup that squad,

and he is probably one that we would look at and say we have some value there.”

“I don’t believe we could have brought him back in January; as far as I know,

we didn’t have that choice, therefore I’m not sure Hagi will return in a Rangers jersey.

I believe that if he has a good Euro and we get £5 million for him, we will thank him for 55 and shake his

hand.

There’s no future

Rangers fans begged the Light Blues to recall Hagi from his loan spell in Spain a few months ago,

believing he would bolster the club’s title ambitions after a slow start to the season under Michael Beale.

However, it only took a few weeks for most people to conclude that the Romanian international is done

in Glasgow,

and it now appears improbable that he will ever play for the Gers again.

Hagi’s age and reputation as an international player, who could participate in the Euros this summer,

make him a sellable asset, and if he performs well in Germany,

the Light Blues may be able to command a reasonable cost.

This could be something to keep an eye on at the finish the season,

especially if Hagi’s form begins to pick up towards the end of the campaign.
