Detroit Lions will keep both coordinators as Commanders hire Dan Quinn.
Both Detroit Lions coordinators will return in 2024, after Dan Quinn was reportedly selected as the Washington Commanders’ new head coach.
Earlier this week, offensive coordinator Ben Johnson informed the Commanders and Seattle Seahawks that he will stay in Detroit for another year.
Defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn was allegedly a finalist for the job in Washington that went to Quinn, which means Glenn will return to Detroit.
Johnson, who was one of the top candidates for coaching positions during the last two seasons, wants to win a Super Bowl with Detroit.
Johnson is also a contender for AP Assistant Coordinator of the Year.
He is recognized as one of the league’s best and most imaginative offensive coordinators, having helped transform the Lions’ offense into one of the best in the league.
Last season, Detroit finished third in the NFL, averaging roughly 395 yards of offense per game.
Detroit had a chance to make its first Super Bowl appearance, but they were defeated by the San Francisco 49ers in the
NFC Championship Game this past weekend. They’ll most likely be favored to return to the NFC Championship next season.
