Celtic may struggle to sign Layvin Kurzawa on deadline day

Celtic may struggle to sign Layvin Kurzawa on deadline day.

The Bhoys have had a reasonably quiet transfer window, but it appears Brendan Rodgers is not seeking to make any changes to the squad just yet.

Celtic have done an excellent job of retaining some of their best players, including Cameron Carter-Vickers and Matt O’Riley. They have added Nicolas Kuhn to the squad this month, and Rodgers hopes to add at least one defender before the end of the year.

The Hoops expressed interest in signing Wolves defender Hugo Bueno, but their approach was rejected.

According to the Daily Mail, the Scottish Premiership champions plan to sign Layvin Kurzawa on deadline day, although it may be a “difficult deal” to complete.

While the highly experienced defender has battled for regular playing time this season, PSG is hoping for a large amount, even if he signs on loan. Furthermore, they will insist that Celtic pay his salaries, which would be quite problematic.

Celtic are trying to clinch a deal for Adam Idah, who should be available today.

However, a new left-back would have been ideal for them because it would have allowed them to improve their team. Scotland’s left-back Greg Taylor is currently injured, leaving Alexandro Bernabei as the Hoops’ only senior option.

Kurzawa, who has over 150 games for the Bhoys, is an extremely accomplished defender. He has played just one game for the club this season, and his agents have informed Celtic of his availability.

David Turnbull may quit the club permanently to join Cardiff City. As things stand, a trade for Kurzawa looks extremely tough.
