Following a police manhunt in Farnborough, a 40-year-old male was taken into custody.
Police say schools were put on lockdown earlier today due to a bomb threat. Following a police manhunt that began about 11.35 a.m., a 40-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of making death threats. There were no explosives found on the premises.
Farnborough Sixth Form College stated: “The College was placed under lockdown at approximately 11.45 a.m. on the advise of police. This was in response to a citizen-submitted report. The police are present.”
In an update at 1pm, the college wrote, “On the advice of the Police, the Lockdown has been reinstated.” According to The Sun, Hampshire Constabulary responded: “We were called at 11.35am to a report that a male in the Farnborough area had made a bomb threat against a school.”
“Local schools were contacted as a precaution and put on lockdown to ensure the safety of staff and pupils while efforts were made to locate this man. “A 40-year-old Farnborough man has been arrested on suspicion of threatening to kill. He is still in custody. No explosive devices were discovered as a result of this arrest.
“Local schools have been informed that there is no longer any threat, and they can now come out of lockdown.”
