Celtic midfielder set for £2m Championship exit

It appears like David Turnbull will sign with Cardiff City of the EFL Championship. With only a few months left on his contract, the 24-year-old has made 14 appearances for Celtic this season and scored 7 goals. However, the Scottish Champions have taken advantage of him.

According to Stephen McGowan of Mail Sport, Cardiff is spending £2 million to acquire the Scotland international.

Turnbull, who joined Celtic from Motherwell in 2020, was named Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year in his first season.

The midfielder made 134 appearances for the team, with 23 assists and 31 goals. Because of Aaron Mooy, Matt O’Riley, Reo Hatate, and Tom Rogic, there were few opportunities for appearances and first team play.

The youngster will probably be successful in England, but he lacked the quickness necessary to match Celtic’s attacking demands. The team did a good job of obtaining a price for Turnbull, whose contract is expiring.
