Rangers need to complete deadline-busting Lawrence Shankland transfer as surprise January verdict emerges

The deadline-jumping Lawrence Shankland transfer must be completed by Rangers before the unexpected January verdict is revealed.

Although Lawrence Shankland hasn’t been pursued by English teams this summer, Barry Ferguson acknowledged that he is shocked and still thinks the player would make a “brilliant” last-minute addition to Rangers.

While Philippe Clement tries to bolster his forward line in the January transfer window, the Scotland international has been linked to a number of moves to Ibrox; however, as the deadline approaches, no such deal has been struck.

Ferguson believes the Light Blues should move to recruit Shankland before the deadline of Thursday, February 1st, even if Cyriel Dessers has started to settle in at Ibrox. He predicts Shankland would score a “barrel load” of goals under Clement.

He stated, “I still think they need to go and get a number nine because you don’t know the scenario with Danilo, Kemar Roofe has suffered so many injuries,” on The Go Radio Football Show on January 29, at 1:00:40. Another one you might have played through the middle is Sima, but he won’t be there.

“I still think it’s an area of the pitch, even with Dessers starting to show what he’s capable of doing, I still think they do need to go and strengthen in that area of the pitch and I think Lawrence Shankland, probably the most improved players in Scottish football over the last 12 months.

“His overall game has come on so much, we know he can put the ball in the back of the net but his link-up play, his strong upper body, he can hold up centre-halves, he can bring people into play, his movement, everything about him I think he’s a very, very good centre-forward.

“I find it surprising that other clubs in the South aren’t considering that he could perform a job.” For the benefit of Rangers, he would undoubtedly in and score a ton of goals. I believe he would perform admirably.

Finish it off.

Even though it doesn’t seem any closer now than it did back at Christmas, this narrative has dominated Rangers’ January transfer window.

Rangers need a new number nine, and with Shankland’s outstanding play for Hearts this season and his consistently good record in the Scottish Premiership throughout his career, he does appear to be the ideal choice.

However, Clement and his hiring team are running out of time to finalize a deal, so the Gers must act quickly to bring the Hearts to Glasgow before the January transfer window closes.

If Rangers can raise the necessary funds to close the acquisition, it makes perfect sense for all sides. I hope they can take action before it’s too late.

In other Rangers news, the team is putting in a lot of effort to finish their deadline-busting for a new striker by the end of January.
