Rangers transfer news as Jefte fails to report for training ahead of Ibrox move

News on the Rangers trade as Jefte skips training before moving to Ibrox

Rangers are pressing for Jefte’s signature before February 1st, but he hasn’t been up for training with his loan club APOEL this week, according to SuperSportFM.

The defender, who is presently on loan from Fluminense to APOEL, is rumored to have greatly irritated his management and coach by missing practice.

In most cases, when players decide not to report for training during the January transfer window, it’s because they’re trying to push for a transfer. Rangers’ keen interest suggests that the Ibrox supporters should start getting excited.

Early in the transfer window, Philippe Clement expressed his intention to get a new left-back even though Borna Barisic and Ridvan Yilmaz were both playing that position for the team.

Despite Jefte’s recent rejuvenation—he has scored and assisted in his past two games—he still appears to be a few steps away from completing his transfer to Ibrox.

It was reported on 26 January, as per Fabrizio Romano, that the Gers had managed to agree a deal with Fluminense for a deal for Jefte, with personal terms also done.

Since then, the trail seemed to have gone cold until now.

If the deal closes before the transfer window closes, Jefte will be a fantastic addition for Clement in January. With eighteen league games played this season, three goals and four assists, he is primed to complement the Belgian’s offensive style of play.

With so many new players joining, Clement is beginning to add his own flair to the mix, while James Tavernier, who constantly poses a goal threat on the other flank, is drawing attention to himself.

In other Rangers news, the Light Blues have already reached an agreement to sign a new player prior to the deadline, but they will have to pay twice as much for the acquisition.
