New Orleans Saints Lose Cody Rager To Broncos

One more Saints employee leaves to work with Sean Payton in Denver.

The New Orleans Saints’ associate scouting director, Cody Rager, is expected to join the Denver Broncos after leaving the team, per to NFL Insider report published on Monday. The Broncos are reportedly close to finalizing an agreement to elevate Rager to vice president of scouting, according to Schefter.

Rager was being pursued by the Broncos, according to Nick Underhill of neworleans.football, who broke the story over the weekend. Naturally, Denver’s head coach is Sean Payton, a 2006 Saints player who played until 2021.

Payton acquired a number of former New Orleans assistants to his staff during the previous offseason when the Saints traded his rights to the Broncos. According to reports, Payton and Broncos General Manager George Paton will collaborate closely with Rager.

Rager has worked as a scout for nine years in New Orleans. He started out for the squad as a scout on the West Coast area. Under Jeff Ireland, the Saints’ deputy general manager and director of college scouting, Rager was elevated to the position of assistant college scouting director in 2021.
