Green Bay Packers: To Keep Or Not To Keep Keisean Nixon?

Green Bay Packers: To Keep Or Not To Keep Keisean Nixon?

Keisean Nixon, a crucial cornerback for the Green Bay Packers, is set to enter free agency this offseason.

He started many games this season in lieu of injured cornerback Jaire Alexander.

Nixon was a valuable member of the Packers’ special teams this season, earning first-team all-pro honors for the second year in a row as a kick returner.

The NFL’s special teams are extremely significant. It is one of the game’s three main phases.

Nixon spoke with Wes Hodkiewicz of Packers.com after being named to the All-Pro team for the second consecutive season.

“It always starts with the return unit, but for me, it was an accomplishment that demonstrated my work. Last year was the first time I ever did it.

And I achieved All Pro. First full year, I expected to have the same opportunities as last year, but it was nowhere like that.

But I still had a good year. It was a blessing, man. “I’m pleased.”

He had a total of 782 total yards on kickoff returns and he led the league in back-to-back seasons with it.

The last person on the Green Bay Packers to accomplish this was Al Carmichael in 1956-1957.

There have been questions about him at the cornerback position, but there is no doubt about what Nixon is bringing as a kickoff returner.

General manager Brian Gutekunst needs to find a way to bring him back next season.

Keisean Nixon Stats With the Green Bay Packers This Past Season

Nixon is only 26 years old and can be a valuable asset to the Packers over the next few seasons. He has 80 tackles this season, 0.5 sacks, one interception, and six pass deflections. Nixon was more of a third cornerback on the roster this season, but he had to step up to bigger roles when necessary.

Nixon should be the third cornerback going ahead, and Green Bay should find a way to draft another starting cornerback in the 2024 NFL Draft.

He must be preserved because of his role on special teams, which would be extremely difficult to replace.
