Rangers set to sign £3.8m talent as he leaves international duty

Rangers are apparently close to signing another player, with Lens winger Oscar Cortes rumored to be on his way to Ibrox.

Rangers signed Mohamed Diomande from Nordsjaelland for roughly £4.3 million on Friday, their second January signing.

Rangers’ signing of Fabio Silva earlier this month signals a potential acceleration in the coming days.

Brazilian left back Jefte is a top target, but Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland is still being touted.

Lens winger Oscar Cortes is reportedly close to signing for Rangers, making him a surprise target.

Rangers set to snap up Lens wide man Oscar Cortes

According to Colombian reporter Julian Capera’s social media post, Rangers have agreed to sign Cortes from Lens.

Cortes will join Rangers on loan for the rest of the season with the option to buy, and he is now on his way to Glasgow to complete the transfer.

Cortes rose to prominence with Millonarios in his home Colombia, scoring seven goals and providing five assists in 28 first-team games.

Cortes has only played four games for the Lens first team, but he has one goal and one assist in that time.

Cortes predominantly plays on the right flank but has also featured on the left, as a number 10, as a central midfielder and even up front.

If a deal is completed, this will be another intriguing signing for Rangers, and there is one strong indicator that the move is underway.

The Colombian FA confirmed that Cortes has been removed from international duty with the Colombian Under-23s to return to France.

Cortes was slated to face Venezuela in the CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament on Monday, but he has been pulled out in favor of finalizing a transfer.

Rangers are believed to be interested in Cortes, and this appears to be another signing with significant future potential.
