When Ruben Amorim takes over as Manchester United’s manager for the first time this weekend, he may have to cope with a defensive injury issue.
On Sunday afternoon, United will return to Premier League action when they play Ipswich Town, although they may be missing up to five key defenders for the match at Portman Road.
Victor Lindelof hobbled off for Sweden over the weekend, Lisandro Martinez pulled out of Argentina duty due to a back ailment, and Leny Yoro is still working hard to get back to match fitness following his preseason setback. Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire of England are still out due to their own injury problems.
Lindelof may not be included in Amorim’s first match day squad, according to early speculation. Amorim will probably provide an update on his squad when he addresses the media prior to their encounter against Ipswich at the end of the week.
After suffering an injury during the Nations League victory over Slovakia, the 30-year-old has left the Sweden squad. Emil Holm, the full-back for Bologna, said the United defender was devastated by his most recent loss. It’s really depressing. You suffer when he recovers from an injury and then sustains another one. After the game, he told reporters, “It was difficult to witness.”
In the dressing room, he was also quite depressed. Since he is captain, he is a valuable member of the team. No, it was unfortunate.
“I gave him a hug and told him to get well,” Holm added when asked if he spoke to Lindelof.
