Update on mandatory purchase provided as Rangers midfielder Jose Cifuentes nears departure

Heart and Hand report that Rangers are keen to add an obligation to buy in the deal because Rizespor are interested in signing Jose Cifuentes.

They say that the Ibrox club has approved the £2 million offer from the Turkish side, but that is only a loan with a buyout option.

They want the money guaranteed in terms of an obligation at the conclusion of the Ecuadorian’s loan stint, even though Gers has left the decision up to him.

Much more logical

A put option would allow the Turkish party to back out of the agreement because the multi-million dollar price is too much for them.

Despite Cifuentes having only recently joined the team in the summer, Gers are hoping to turn a profit on him.

If he relocates to Turkey and struggles there, it will simply lower his transfer value, and the minimal interest that has been expressed thus far is unlikely to materialize six months from now.

He is unlikely to immediately establish himself as a mainstay at Ibrox the next season, given the additions and Philippe Clement’s attitude toward him.

It is best for all parties if he leaves the team permanently and the Gers receive the £2 million, which they may use to make purchases in January.

The transfer price received from the sale of Cifuentes will make up a sizeable portion of what will be required to recruit Lawrence Shankland, or someone of that caliber, according to reports of a new striker.
