Cyriel Dessers dilemma on full display at Rangers after what Stevie Clifford was told

Cyriel Dessers dilemma on full display at Rangers after what Stevie Clifford was told.

Despite Cyriel Dessers’ recent comeback to form, Rangers supporters will be getting more and more irritated with him.

Stevie Clifford stated on The Rangers Review (November 12) that he had been informed something that rung true after Dessers’ equalising goal against Olympiacos on November 7.

Gers supporters’ dissatisfaction is not surprising at all given that Dessers scored seven goals in his first nine games of the season, went eight games without scoring, and then scored in each of his final three games.

Clifford stated: “I think that’s a pretty good way to describe Cyriel Dessers. Someone told me that he was the reason we received a point and the reason we didn’t receive all three in Greece.”

Rangers would lead the field with a steady Dessers, Cyriel

For any forward, scoring one goal per two games is a decent output, but the Light Blues need more with Dessers’ goals coming in spurts and starts during a disappointing early season.

Even though the Nigerian’s eight-game goal drought coincided with the Gers’ declining domestic results, his inconsistent play hasn’t been sufficient to garner him an international recall.

With the number nine starting all but three of their 20 games thus far, Philippe Clement has become accustomed to pressure during this time but continues to believe in Dessers as his main man up front.

Danilo is still being nursed back into first-team contention, and Hamza Igamane has shown signs of promise, but the primary reason for this over-reliance on the 29-year-old is a dearth of reliable alternatives.

Fans will be hoping that this scoring run lasts longer than the last one, but for the time being at least, it seems like Dessers or bust for Clement’s team as they try to improve their form.
