Middlesbrough issued ‘Full Kenny experience’ warning ahead of Luton Town trip after big win.
A trip to Luton Town’s Kenilworth Road is rarely an easy undertaking.
Luton Town midfielder Jordan Clark issued a warning to Middlesbrough on Saturday, calling for the ‘whole Kenny experience’.
Boro head to Kenilworth Road on Saturday for a volatile Championship away game, following a midweek triumph over QPR. Such a tight environment, along with Luton’s aggression on the pitch, will present a unique challenge for Michael Carrick’s side’s defense, which is anticipated to remain makeshift.
Even this season, where the Hatters are presently second from bottom in the Championship, just six of the 18 clubs who have visited Bedfordshire have departed with all three points. Boro are also coming off a morale-boosting victory against relegation rivals Cardiff City, in which Clark scored a goal of the season candidate to tie the game before Thelo Aasgaard’s 80th-minute winner.
Clark reflected on it and looked ahead to Boro’s visit, telling the club website: “If Cardiff had defeated us, we would have been eight points behind them. We’re not being ridiculous. That was a vast gap, and we would have fought to the finish, but we knew how enormous it would have been.
“So getting back to within two points of a rival that is ahead of us is huge, and it just gives us that confidence back, especially after a road win. I’m excited for the supporters, and it sets us up beautifully for Saturday, before the break, when we can earn another win and move out of the relegation zone.
“There is no purpose in winning tonight if you don’t back it up, especially given our current situation. We know what the Kenny is, and opposing teams are aware of it, but it is our responsibility to provide them with the entire Kenny experience. Our next game against Middlesbrough on Saturday will be challenging due to their high ranking in the standings.
“But before the international break, we need to earn another three points, and we’ve been working on it. The gaffer has talked about it a lot, and we go over all the metrics in meetings every day, and aside from the results, we know we’ve been working on something. It’s just good to see it pay off with two wins in the previous three. We’re simply looking forward to the weekend now. Tonight means nothing if we don’t follow it up over the weekend.”
