Celtic loanee gets Sweden call-up after impressing in Dutch football.
Forgotten Celtic loanee Gustaf Lagerbielke has received a call-up to represent Sweden this month after his stand-out season at FC Twente…

Last summer, the centre-back joined Eredivisie club FC Twente on loan. Lagerbielke struggled to adjust to life in Glasgow after joining Celtic in 2023, but he has since been quite impressive in the Netherlands.

Lagerbielke’s outstanding performances have piqued the interest of former Malmo manager Jon Dahl Tomasson, who has included him to Sweden’s team for upcoming friendly against Luxembourg and Northern Ireland later this month.
In his career, the 24-year-old has earned two caps for his country and scored once. Lagerbielke intends to increase those numbers in the following weeks.

FC Twente has no option to buy this summer as Celtic will attempt to maximise the transfer money.
However, his future at Celtic beyond the season remains questionable. Twente does not have the option to purchase the Swede after his loan finishes, and it is unclear if he will be a long-term answer for Brendan Rodgers in the center of Celtic’s defense.
Like Odin Thiago Holm, Luis Palma, Stephen Welsh, and other current loanees, it’s doubtful that Lagerbielke will ever play for Celtic again.
