Fairytale return to Elland Road on the cards – Leeds United fans would welcome him back with open arms

Leeds United are under duress following two disappointing results and their path to Premier League promotion appears under threat with ten games left in the season.

Daniel Farke will trust his players to get the job done and work is ongoing behind the scenes to recruit players who could come in and help Leeds survive in the Premier League if they get promoted.

The Yorkshire heavyweights have been keeping tabs on several players across various positions but it has been alleged that the supporters could be in for a significant surprise in the summer.

A much-loved former White could return to Elland Road in the next transfer window if Leeds get promoted.

The Yorkshire titans have work to do before they can celebrate getting promoted and the defeat at Portsmouth on Sunday has made the task a bit more difficult.

With ten games remaining in the Championship season, Leeds United are under pressure to get a pair of solid results before they get into the international break next week.

However, Leeds are expecting to get the job done and get promoted to the Premier League this season and their recruitment staff are working towards recruiting players for the top division.

The Yorkshire titans are looking at strikers, goalkeepers and midfielders and the club will seek to bring in quality from England as well as overseas to strengthen the squad.

But it has been claimed that Leeds are now contemplating bringing back a former White to Elland Road in the summer and it would thoroughly gratify the supporters.

Leeds United spies keeping tabs on Kalvin Phillips ahead of the summer

Phillips left Leeds to join Manchester City in the summer of 2022 but he is one of the very few players who moved on from Elland Road with the fans’ best wishes.

The midfielder had a difficult time at the Etihad where he struggled to match Pep Guardiola’s demands and spent the latter half of last season on loan at West Ham.

e joined Ipswich Town on loan last summer and is almost certain to move on from Manchester City permanently in the next transfer window.

With Ipswich destined to get relegated, Phillips will be searching for a new club and according to the Sun, he could be returning to his former stomping ground at Elland Road.

It has been claimed Leeds recruiters are monitoring his performances at Ipswich as the Whites are contemplating sending him back to West Yorkshire next summer.

His performances since departing Leeds have not been outstanding, but he remains a staunch darling with the Whites supporters who venerate him for making it from the academy to the first team.

Phillips was also a pivotal member of the team that won promoted to the Premier League in 2020 and would always remain an idol for the Whites supporters.

Leeds supporters will adore donning the white shirt again

Phillips remains a much-loved former Leeds player at Elland Road and the supporters had no harsh feelings towards him when he moved to the Etihad three years back.

The midfielder has struggled since leaving Leeds and will be looking for a club that will give him the opportunity to rekindle his career and find his way back into the England squad.

A return to Leeds would appeal to him as this is where he made a reputation for himself and acquired the appellation of the ‘Yorkshire Pirlo’ because of his outstanding performances.

Moving back to Elland Road would give the midfielder an opportunity to rediscover his best form again under familiar settings and his boyhood club would take excellent care of him.

Leeds fans would also love to bring him back to the club as he remains a popular figure and his affection for the Whites has never been under dispute.

They need to get promoted to the Premier League to make this happen as Phillips would unlikely to consent to step down to the Championship at this juncture of his career.
