THIEVES INVADES SHEFFIELD CENTRAL LIBRARY – DONATION CASH STOLEN

Over the weekend, robbers forced their way into Sheffield Central Library and took a small quantity of cash, including cash from a public donation station.

The building on Surrey Street sustained damage as a result of the incident, which prompted a temporary closure on Monday morning (March 10, 2025). Investigations are still underway after South Yorkshire Police arrived on the site. In order to ensure that the facility could reopen to the public, library staff has been working swiftly to complete repairs. Visitors and library supporters, however, are worried about the break-in.

Anyone with information on the incident is being urged to come forward by the authorities. Call South Yorkshire Police at 101 and provide the incident number if you noticed anything unusual or if you have any information that could help with the investigation.
In addition to causing financial loss, this careless behavior has damaged a beloved public area.
