Scott Parker discusses Burnley’s ‘traits and habits’ after matching Sean Dyche’s 23-game unbeaten streak

Scott Parker praised his team’s “consistent traits” as Burnley continued their unbeaten streak.

Sean Dyche’s team went unbeaten in 23 league games during their title-winning 2015/16 season. The Clarets matched that statistic on Saturday, defeating 10-man Luton Town and winning for the fifth time in six games.

Parker has been pleased with how his team has handled the trials that a Championship campaign may offer as they enter the final ten games of the season, sitting just outside the top two.

“I’m really pleased. I’ve been pleased all year, to be quite honest with you,” he said.

“The team has performed admirably, and I am quite happy of where we are. “This is a long road, and the Championship season will offer many games and challenges. We tend to meet each problem front on.

“The Luton game was quite tough. This is a squad struggling for its life and still has quality on its roster, a team that was just in the Premier League last season, but we delivered.

“We stuck to our principles. The traits and habits on this team appear to be quite constant, which has given us a chance.”

While Burnley was one of the favourites to gain promotion following their relegation from the Premier League, a look at Saturday’s opponents demonstrates that a team on the way down is not usually among the competitors. Luton, who have only won one away game all season, are in the bottom three, five points from safety.

“You only have to look at the history books,” Parker remarked. “If you look at the history books of Premier League teams, someone should conduct extensive research on that.

“Because coming out of the Premier League, a team that returns to this division, we’ve seen it for years. This is a tough division.

To compete in this league, you must possess certain qualities. “Luton have struggled this year, but they’re a good, good side and we executed well.”
