He is the first senior Leeds United player to put pen to paper in 2025
Leeds United have announced that breakthrough first-team midfielder Sam Chambers has penned a fresh contract that keeps him at Elland Road until 2028.
The academy graduate celebrates his 18th birthday today, having spent more than 10 years progressing through the Whites youth ranks. Chambers made his senior debut against Plymouth Argyle in November when coming on as a second-half substitute.
He was then granted his full debut in front of a packed Elland Road during February’s FA Cup defeat to Millwall, impressing for 68 minutes before being taken off to applause. “We like him a lot, it was not a gift that he was in the starting line-up,” manager Daniel Farke later said.
Leeds-born Chambers has made the first-team matchday squad on five other occasions and otherwise has been a prominent figure for the Under-21s. The Scotland U19s international had also featured for the senior side in pre-season.
Meanwhile, three other contract situations remain unresolved. Junior Firpo, Sam Byram and Josuha Guilavogui all see their deals expire at the end of the season but have yet to pen a renewal.
Asked about holding renewal talks with the trio a month ago, Farke said: “There is no time to waste energy about individuals or what happens in the next six months, we’ll have some proper conversations when it’s time to do this.”
