Celtic gaffer’s praise for ‘beautiful’ Hibs support as Treble-chasing Rodgers talks Scottish Cup ‘revenge’

Hibs supporters were praised by treble-chasing Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers for fostering a “beautiful” environment during yesterday’s Scottish Cup quarterfinal. Even though they lost, the all-conquering coach says the 7,000 traveling Celtic Park supporters could be “proud of their team.”

A 2-0 loss in Glasgow sent David Gray’s team crashing out of the Cup. However, the greatest away crowd Celtic Park has seen since 2018 supported them the entire time and cheered them on after the final whistle. The fans were there to honor a squad that had gone 15 games without losing before yesterday’s loss.

The significance of the fans was mentioned in all of Gray’s plays. And Rodgers thinks a proper travelling section enhanced the atmosphere, anticipating the small number of away fans who will return for the Old Firm encounter when Rangers visit on Sunday.
