Noel Hunt ‘Disappointed’ After Reading Drop Points At Crawley.

The hosts scored late to deny the Royals an away win. On Saturday afternoon, the Royals’ playoff aspirations were dashed after they lost a last-minute equaliser to Crawley Town at Broadfield Stadium. Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan scored in the first half, and it appeared that the Royals would take all three points, but Crawley scored in the 89th minute to earn a point. The Royals remain eighth, but are now five points out of the playoffs. Manager Noel Hunt thought that two points had been dropped. Here’s what he told the Reading Chronicle.

Hunt on the performance

“We anticipated it would be a scrappy contest. I think we handled them nicely, keeping them out of the box until the last minute. We dropped too deep, were a little sloppy with the first and second balls, and allowed the cross to come in. “We’ve been so good over the last seven or eight games, so I’m upset not to get three points. “We had moments in the second half from Billy, Mamadi, and Harvey with Jayden’s flick. Those bits did not go our way, and in the end, with a youthful back four that was fantastic, they broke in the final minute.

“We’ve been doing well in two-v-ones and three-v-twos, moving the ball quickly. It was not there today. “We’ll accept the unbeaten streak, but we thought it was two points lost. I think we accomplished enough to finish the game. We looked great defensively, but this was one of those instances when the subtleties matter. We had the structure correct, but the cross comes in, and he gets a touch in the box.”
