It was a good night for Lincoln City on Tuesday, with three points in the bag and the return of Sheffield Wednesday’s Bailey Cadamarteri.
It had been about two months since the young Owl loanee last played for the Imps, having suffered an adductor injury earlier this year, but he was finally able to return as a second-half substitute in the 4-1 triumph over Crawley Town.
With the game tied 3-1 at Sincil Bank, ‘Cadz’ took to the field for the final 10 minutes, assisting his team in returning to winning ways and moving up to 12th in League One.
The 19-year-old has remained Lincoln’s top scorer despite not playing since mid-January, and he’ll now be looking to attain double figures with the 11 games left remaining.
Bailey Cadamarteri’s roadmap
Manager Michael Skubala has heaped praise on the talented teen during his loan spell in Lincolnshire, and he will undoubtedly be delighted to have him back for the final stretch.
Danny Röhl, meantime, will be eager to watch how the youngster performs before returning to Middlewood Road at the conclusion of the season, with the academy graduate having acquired crucial experience in the third division following his breakout Championship season in 2023/24.
Speaking to The Star recently, Röhl stated, “For Bailey, the most important thing was that he got game time at a high level, he scored goals, and now it’s about regaining his rhythm…. He should have a good season finale, and when he returns, we’ll sit down and decide what the next step should be. The pre-season is always a fantastic opportunity to bring these players back.
“We have some really intriguing players returning in the summer, young youngsters like Gab (Otegbayo), Sean (Fusire), Bailey, and Charlie (McNeill). It is a good group, and they make significant progress. This is great to see for us.”
Cadamarteri has played 32 games this season, including a single Carabao Cup appearance for the Owls, as he continues to find his way in the professional game, and he’ll be hoping that his stint in the third tier will serve him well when Wednesday return for preseason in the summer.
The teenager has already piqued the interest of national federations, with England calling him up at youth level and Jamaica seeing him as a potential senior option, so there are many eyes on him as both club and country track his progress with the Imps.
Wednesday fans, meanwhile, will be anxious to see how he’s developed when he returns in an Owls shirt next season, with the hope that he’ll be scoring goals in blue and white once more after scoring five in his debut season the previous year. Lincoln needs two more goals to match his score in 2024/25, but he’ll be hoping for more as his team looks to keep their slender playoff hopes alive.
