Police remain at Smestow Brook as search for missing man enters day four

Police officers remained at the site of a brook today after reports of a man going into the water.

 

A number of police vehicles were pictured on the car park on Swindon Community Centre in Swindon, South Staffordshire, this afternoon (March 5).

 

It comes after Staffordshire Police received reports of concern for a man on Sunday, March 2.

The forced was contacted at around 3pm that day.

 

The man has been missing since February 24 and specialist teams are working to try and find him.

A number of police cars were seen parked up on the community centre car park located next to Smestow Brook.

 

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police told BlackCountryLive today that the investigation remained ongoing.

 

A statement issued by the force yesterday said: “We are currently searching the area at Smestow Book in Swindon following reports of a person going into the water.

 

“We were called at around 3pm on Sunday (March 2) following reports of concern for a man. He has been missing since February 24 and specialist teams have been working hard to locate him.

 

“Specialist water teams are currently searching the area.

 

“We are advising the public to avoid the area where possible whilst we continue to work at the scene.”
