
South Wales Police have charged 33-year-old Matthew Battenbough with the murder of Leanne Williams, a 47-year-old resident of Townhill, Swansea. Battenbough appeared at Swansea Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, where he was remanded in custody pending further proceedings.
Leanne Williams was discovered deceased in her Gomer Road home on Thursday, February 27, at approximately 2pm. A Home Office post-mortem examination revealed significant injuries consistent with an assault.
Initially, two men were arrested in connection with the investigation. However, no further action is being taken against a 41-year-old man, who has since been released from police custody.
Detective Superintendent Mark O’Shea emphasized the ongoing efforts to reconstruct Leanne’s movements between 6pm on Monday, February 24, and 2.20pm on Thursday, February 27, when she was found. He urged residents and travelers in the Gomer Road area during that period to review any private CCTV or dashcam footage for potential evidence, regardless of perceived significance. Additionally, individuals acquainted with Leanne who have not yet communicated with authorities are encouraged to come forward.
