
Sutton St Nicholas house fire: Fire service statement
Huge flames and plumes of smoke could be seen coming from the house
THE fire service has issued a statement after a huge blaze over the weekend in Herefordshire.
Firefighters battled the flames at a house in Willow Bank Drive, in Sutton St Nicholas, on Saturday evening.
Videos from the scene showed severe damage of the house’s extension, caused by the incident which began in a carport.
A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) has said: “Five Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews, two from Hereford and one each from Ewyas Harold, Fownhope and Bromyard Fire Stations, were called to a house fire in Sutton St Nicholas. The fire involved a car port and one car which was extinguished by four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using hosereel jets. Gas and electrics were isolated and crews dampened down and cut away. There were no casualties.”
Emergency crews were called out at about 5pm and carried out a later reinspection at 11.30pm.
