Cheltenham boss Michael Flynn on his Valley Parade return
At Valley Parade last night, the former Bantams captain witnessed his Cheltenham team lose 3-0.
Flynn also saw enough to conclude that City will return to League One following a six-year hiatus.
He stated, “I do believe they’ll go up, and I believe Walsall will go up as well.” “You just witnessed the defeats of Wimbledon, Doncaster, Crewe, and Notts County.
“I am not here to predict the league, and I wish I was talking about us first or second, but I do hope the teams go up.” “I know people will say about Walsall, but they have a point away from home, and Carlisle is not an easy place to go.”
Before the game, Flynn had a warm welcome from the home crowd, something he did value.
“I’ve always given it my all wherever I’ve been, so it always means a lot to me. Whether I’ve been a manager or a player, I’ve never merely taken a job or gone through the motions.
“I’ve worked really hard and sacrificed a lot, and I should since many people, whether they be managers or players, would like to be in my shoes.
“I also adore Cheltenham Town, but the atmosphere and the audience made Bradford a unique venue for my performance.
Even though we weren’t a strong squad while I was here, they still supported us. Even though there were many cuts and uncertainties over the stadium’s rent, among other things, the fans remained loyal to us, and players like Simon Ramsden, Lee Bullock, and myself will never forget it.
“They supported us through difficult times, which is why I believe it’s a special place.”
Flynn acknowledged that against a side “in a really good moment,” Cheltenham was second best.
They just broke the club record of ten consecutive home victories, which is incredible, in my opinion.
They simply had a more polished appearance, and their strategy was far more effective than ours.
They’ve had a nice night, which they’ve had a lot of lately, while we’ve had a bad one. A squad vying for the title has defeated us.
