About 40 firefighters were called to the blaze in an outbuilding of St Michael’s Primary School in Stoke Gifford, near Bristol, at 21:25 GMT.

Fire crews tackled the blaze for about 15 minutes before it was put out, Avon Fire and Rescue Service said. There were no reported injuries.

Duty manager for the fire service, Matthew Crovetto, said there was smoke damage to the school, which will remain shut on Monday while fire crews carry out their investigations. It is expected to reopen on Monday.
