Wayne Rooney considered for League Two job following dismal performances against Birmingham City and Plymouth Argyle

Carlton Palmer anticipates that Wayne Rooney will eventually return to the EFL as a manager.

After leading the team during the summer, the 39-year-old was just fired by Plymouth Argyle in January.

He only played in 15 games for the Blues during the previous season, having previously worked for Derby County and Birmingham City.

Rooney received greater recognition for his tenure at Pride Park, even though the squad was still relegated from the Championship due to a number of problems behind the scenes.

Even working as an assistant for a few years under someone else can be a smart move if he is keen to advance as a coach.

However, considering his current performance, it’s unlikely that he will play in the Championship again very soon.
