A body found in the River Avon is not missing man Sebastian Sailes, police have confirmed.
On Monday morning, March 3, the body of a 70-year-old man was discovered in the river near Westmead Open Space in Chippenham.
The body has been recognized, and his next of kin has been notified. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
Sebastian Sailes, 21, has been missing for four days.
Sebastian was last seen leaving the Black Horse Pub in Chippenham at about 11.30pm on Thursday, February 27, and was captured on CCTV heading towards Lovers Walk.
He is then thought to have headed south along Avon Valley Walk towards his home address in Notton.
Sebastian is described as white, around 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build, with blonde/brown hair with a long fringe.
He was last seen wearing a grey jumper, blue jeans, a beige fur lined jacket, and white Adidas trainers.
In recent days, search and rescue crews from across the south of England have been searching the river, with Wiltshire Search and Rescue stating they have made “great progress” in their search.
County Chief Inspector Ben Huggins confirmed that a man’s body was found this morning in the River Avon. His next of kin have been informed, and our thoughts are with them.
“Sebastian’s family have been informed of this development, and we are continuing to support them.
“A cordon was set up around the body to allow for enquiries to take place and has now been lifted.”
