This evening, Rovers Under-21s play their penultimate home league match of the season against Premier League 2 visitors Norwich City in Leyland.

After a late victory over Nottingham Forest the previous time out, which was particularly opportune after back-to-back losses to Manchester City and West Ham United, Mike Sheron’s team will enter the match against the Canaries in a positive frame of mind.
Last week’s match against the Reds saw Rovers take a three-goal lead. Zack Stritch opened the scoring with an incredible free-kick halfway through the first half, and Forest attacker Kristian Fletcher quickly tied the score.
However, only 15 seconds after the restart, Rovers’ Alex Baker put them ahead again, but the visitors responded to tie the score at two.
Up until Joe Boggan’s conversion of Harley O’Grady-Macken’s cross with 88 minutes remaining, Warren Joyce’s charges appeared to have the best chance of continuing and winning it.
In addition to several members of the team being away on loan elsewhere, Zak Gilsenan, Tom Bloxham, Paul Murphy-Worrell, and Isaac Whitehall are all injured and will not be able to participate.
Igor Tyjon, who has just recently resumed light training, is anticipated to find the match too soon, and experienced players Owen Beck and Harry Pickering are also not yet ready to return tonight.
In the meantime, Norwich leads Rovers by one point and one spot in the standings, but they have lost their last eight games.
Last time out, Alan Neilson’s visitors lost to Leeds United by a slim margin at York City’s LNER Community Stadium. This was their third defeat in their previous four games.Lewis Shipley was sent off against the Whites, therefore he won’t be playing for the Canaries this evening.
The test tonight will be the first time the two clubs have faced each other since Norwich won 4-0 at their Colney training base last season, thanks to goals from Pedro Lima and Joe Duffy as well as a brace from Ken Aboh.
