Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris has revealed that the Black Cats will be without the services of midfielder Enzo Le Fee for the next “four to six weeks”.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Le Fee joined the Stadium of Light on loan from Serie A powerhouse Roma during the January transfer window. The Black Cats have the option to purchase his services, which becomes required if they are promoted to the Premier League.
With one goal and one assist in eight second-tier games, the Roma player has already paid off for the Championship promotion contenders.
However, a hamstring injury forced Le Fee to leave the game at halftime during his most recent league debut, which took place during last Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Hull City.
Due to a hamstring injury, Black Cats defender Dan Ballard was also forced to leave the field of play at the Stadium of Light last weekend.
Sunderland boss Le Bris reveals Le Fee injury timescale
Earlier in the week, Roker Report said that mercurial Frenchman Le Fee will be sidelined for approximately six weeks due to a hamstring injury he sustained, and it seems that was right.
Le Bris responded, “Probably a little bit less for Enzo, probably around four to six weeks,” when asked by BBC Radio Newcastle to provide a timeline of the injuries sustained by Le Fee and Ballard.
“And probably six to eight for Dan.”
The Black Cats manager is largely optimistic in spite of these defeats, stating: “We did well at Leeds (during a 2-1 defeat on February 17).”
“We could have won against Hull, but it wasn’t our best.
“Managing the team and ending the season on a high note are crucial.
“Despite our numerous suspensions and injuries, we still have a chance to get promoted.
“Everyone is struggling at this point in the season, and feeling exhausted is normal.”
Sometimes you have to maintain the level even when you’re exhausted.
“The league is never easy.
“There are obstacles to overcome if you wish to compete at the highest level.
“We have only lost six games this season, so the two losses are not a problem.
“When it happens, it is new, but we have to trust our game and find the good energy to finish the season.”
