Leeds United return to action on Saturday when they entertain West Brom.
The Championship table makes good reading for Leeds United going into the final 12 matches. Back-to-back wins over promotion rivals Sunderland and Sheffield United has moved the Whites five points clear at the top of the table.
Third-placed Burnley trail United by seven points. Can anyone catch Daniel Farke’s men?
United entertain play-off hopefuls West Bromwich Albion this weekend while the Blades travel to Queens Park Rangers. Sunderland visit Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow night looking to keep their faint top-two hopes alive. As for the Clarets, they are without a match until next Tuesday.
Former England international Brian Deane has backed his former clubs Leeds United and Sheffield United to hold their nerve down the final stretch and win promotion. He told Football League World: “I think Leeds is probably a given now. What they’ve done in the games beating Sheffield United and Sunderland last week has broken the back. They just have to match other teams now.
“Sheffield United aren’t a shoo-in but they’ve got enough to win enough games to go up now. Their form has been patchy. It will be close between Burnley and Sheffield United, but I just fancy United to nick it.”
There is a big opportunity for the Whites to crank up the pressure on their title rivals on Saturday. They face the Baggies in the lunchtime fixture, with the Blades playing the R’s later in the day.
United enter the WBA clash in fine fettle, having won five league matches in a row.
