Arne Slot BANNED for Liverpool vs. Newcastle with 2-match suspension confirmed

Arne Slot has been banned for Liverpool’s next two domestic fixtures after his red card in the Merseyside derby, meaning the boss will miss the games against Newcastle and Southampton.

Slot was fired after a disputed 2-2 tie with Everton at Goodison Park, and the FA charged him and assistant Sipke Hulshoff.

Slot and Hulshoff were both charged with “allegedly acted in an improper manner and/or used insulting and/or abusive words and/or behaviour” towards match officials.

An independent tribunal eventually heard the testimony of referee Michael Oliver and his staff, as well as Slot, Hulshoff, and Liverpool, all of whom acknowledged the charges.

It has already been announced that Slot will miss the next two games, his second suspension of the season, while Hulshoff will also miss two.

Liverpool will be without their head coach for their home games against Newcastle (tonight) and Southampton (March 8). Slot will be in the dugout at Wembley Stadium for the Carabao Cup final on March 16.

Slot missed the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Southampton due to an accumulation of yellow cards in the Premier League.

Liverpool’s assistant coach, John Heitinga, is set to take the lead in the dugout without Slot and his No. 2.
