Will Nottingham Forest extend Ola Aina’s contract after Newcastle’s mistake?

Ola Aina, a full-back for the Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest, has only four months left on his deal at the City Ground, according to Soccernet.ng.

In the summer of 2023, the 28-year-old defender signed a one-year contract with the possibility of an extension with the two-time UEFA Champions League winners.

Although Aina’s current contract allows for a second season extension, the Nigerian may be enticed to depart when the transfer window opens the following summer due to interest from Manchester City, AC Milan, and Roma.
When the two teams played last weekend, the former Chelsea defender was responsible for one of Newcastle’s goals through a handball that resulted in a delicate penalty chip from Aleksandar Isak.

Will Ola Aina’s contract be extended by Forest?
With 48 appearances in all competitions, three goals, and two assists, Aina has been among Forest’s most reliable players over the past 12 months.

Nuno Espirito Santo has indicated that he wants to keep the team intact and has signed new contracts with Murillo and Chris Wood, the team’s star striker, at the City Ground; however, Aina’s status is still up in the air.

The former head coach of Tottenham Hotspur has often expressed confidence in Aina’s future, saying there is no need for concern.

The former head coach of Tottenham Hotspur has often expressed confidence in Aina’s future, saying there is no need for concern.

“On Ola’s contract, No, I don’t think there’s an issue on that. They [Ola Aina, Murillo and Chris Wood] are working very well. Things are going well. The people responsible for that part of the club are taking care of it. It helps when a player is happy, as a club there is no issue in terms of changing. What we want is our players to feel good. We provide the right atmosphere and then they have to do their jobs on the pitch,” Nuno said

However, despite interest from other teams, Aina has stated that he is happy with his life at the City Ground and intends to stay with the Reds.

“I hope so [to continue at Forest], I really enjoy it here. I enjoy the staff, the players, the club, the community. Everything about it is a good place, so, yeah, hopefully,” the full-back told Sky Sports prior to Forest’s loss to Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United.

It looks like an agreement may be in the works given the player’s and the club’s coach’s admittance of continuity. If nothing solid materializes, both parties have an extension clause to fall back on.
Currently ranked third in the English Premier League, Nottingham Forest is pushing themselves to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Their last two league games have ended in defeat.
