Charlie Hughes, a defender for Hull City, described his weekend comeback from injury as a “unbelievable feeling.”
Alfie Jones and the center-back for Hull City were included in the starting lineup for Saturday’s match against Sunderland. At the Stadium of Light, HCAFC triumphed 1-0 to increase their chances of surviving.
The 21-year-old Hughes signed a long-term contract with the Tigers from Wigan Athletic last summer. Since then, he has played in 14 games this season for the East Yorkshire team.
He posted to his fans on X after their thrilling win in the Northeast, saying, “It’s good to be back! Amazing sensation, made even better by a huge three points and clean sheet!
After gaining three points against the Black Cats, Ruben Selles’ team is now in 20th place in the Championship standings. With games remaining against Derby County, Plymouth Argyle, and Luton Town, they are currently three points above the drop zone.
Hull City’s latest regarding Charlie Hughes
Hull City hauled Hughes off in the second half against Sunderland as a precaution since he hadn’t played in a while.
John Egan was brought on in his stead, and he will now compete with former Sheffield United and Burnley players for a spot in the lineup alongside the ever-present Jones.
After Jacob Greaves left for Ipswich Town last year, Hughes was signed by the Tigers.
He has struggled with injuries, therefore he hasn’t played as much as he would have liked to.
However, the former England youth international has made an impression in his games and has a promising future at MKM Stadium.
When Hughes was younger, he had stints at Manchester City and Liverpool. He was signed by Wigan Athletic in 2017, and as a teenager, he eventually made his debut in the first squad.
Hughes went on to score five goals in 78 games for the Latics. He said on their website after joining Hull City: “I’m thrilled. I’m thrilled to be here and can’t wait to get started. It’s an amazing sensation.
I had a great time at Wigan for a long time, but I’m eager to return to the Championship. I’m eager to get started and grow, and I’m prepared to move forward right now.
