Josh Sargent issues Norwich City play-offs prediction

Sargent’s brace, goals from loanee Lewis Dobbin, and an own goal from Junior Tchamadeu helped the Canaries defeat Stoke City 4-2 at Carrow Road last weekend. The victory secured all three points and moved the East Anglian team up to 10th place in the second division standings.

When they play promotion rivals Blackburn Rovers this weekend, Johannes Hoff Thorup’s team will have a fantastic opportunity to cut the deficit and go within four points of the top six.

After missing a significant amount of time due to a groin injury, American international Sargent has returned to the Championship and scored seven goals in eight league appearances.

With a consistent supplier of goals at the top end of the field to give the side every chance of winning games most weeks, the marksman’s return is guaranteed to greatly boost Norwich’s hopes of promotion.

“Everyone is aware of the nature of this league. Our objective is to get you back into the picture if you can put together a few victories. We currently have games that allow us to do that. All we have to do is maintain our concentration and continue to provide performances like today.

After City defeated Stoke, the American international remarked, “There were moments last year also where I was scoring a lot of goals,” in reference to his goal-scoring contributions. “I’m clearly really thrilled. The fact that the squad won the game makes me even happier.

“All I have to do is maintain working hard for the team, stay focused on what has put me in those positions to score goals, and avoid being overly lazy.

“Everyone on this team, including the defense and midfield, is of high quality. We have a lot of quality, so it’s just a matter of minimizing the errors and lazy passes.”
