‘Every time’ – Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers told Rangers how it was months before Philippe Clement’s sacking

Celtic’s defeat to Hibernian on Saturday afternoon was expected to be the highlight of the weekend, despite the champions’ disappointing performance. But, just hours after that match in Edinburgh, Rangers were defeated at Ibrox by St Mirren, causing them to slip farther behind in the Premiership rankings.

Celtic Park fans had a good chuckle, but Clement was ousted after only winning one trophy.

Just like Rangers’ most recent manager, Steven Gerrard, who won only one trophy, so perhaps they are attempting to create a constant trend here.

However, months before Clement was fired, Rodgers dropped the ultimate truth bomb on the Rangers’ table, and it has finally come true.

Over Rodgers’ two periods at Celtic, he has seen them all off, and the number continues to increase, with six managers failing to dethrone him.

However, he attempted to warn others across the road about this in December, when he stated that he is often reminded that ‘Rangers are coming’, as reported by STV Sport.

Rodgers noted that while it is ‘natural’ for some to believe that Celtic should ‘fear’ Rangers, nothing ever happens, as evidenced by the amount of managers he has faced.

“Over my two spells here, I’ve worked against five Rangers managers, and every time, Rangers were coming,” Rodgers stated before the New Year.

“Each time, at some point. So, for me, it is natural. As I mentioned the other day, if I listened to the media and the press, we would be in continual crisis mode and fearful of Rangers.

“But it’s the fifth manager now, so my attention is solely on Celtic and very much on here. Fortunately, I dismiss most of the crap that may come my way.”
