No damage done for Celtic in title race despite VAR shocker, thanks to St Mirren

No damage done for Celtic in title race despite VAR shocker, thanks to St Mirren

We used our get out of jail free card at Easter Road yesterday, which was then renewed by the Buddies win at Ibrox, but let’s make sure we don’t need it again…

Yesterday saw Celtic succumb to our second league defeat of the season as we lost out by two goals to one to Hibs at Easter Road.

It was clear that the team looked a little fatigued following our midweek heartbreak in Munich, but let’s take nothing away from the Leith side who deserved their victory after such a spirited display.

First half Celtic just didn’t turn up

The first half Celtic just didn’t turn up. Hibs wanted it more and it showed as they took a two goal lead into the interval.

We rallied a little after the break as Brendan Rodgers hooked the three players brought in to the team after they started on the bench in Munich.

All three — Taylor, McCowan and Idah – had an afternoon that they’ll want to forget.

Celtic did pull one back through the talisman Daizen Maeda who was his usual hard working self.

certainly Daizen was certainly unlucky not to snag us a point as his second ‘goal’ was ruled out after Alistair Johnston’s cross was ‘judged’ to have crossed the by line by Alan Muir on VAR duties, before Daizen slammed the ball into the back of the net.

Muir didn’t have any film to justify his call

Muir didn’t have any footage to validate his call and should now play no more past in Scottish football, until he has verifiable confirmation that the ball was indeed over the line.

They he’ll be in the clear and deserve an apology from Brendan Rodgers and everyone commenting, including myself.

That said it would’ve been cruel on Hibs if it had have stood, and in all honesty they deserved the win in my opinion.

You might even argue that was us triggering one of our get of jail free cards such is our huge lead at the top.

St Mirren won at Ibrox but was it truly a shock?

But with St Mirren upsetting theRangers at Ibrox it was revived yet again, and our lead stays in tact.

Indeed perhaps on reflection that the St Mirren victory at Ibrox was not too much of a shock, given the fact that Queen’s Park from the Championship triumphed at Ibrox to knock Philippe Clement’s team out of the Scottish Cup in their previous encounter on home soil.

Celtic must get back to winning ways against Aberdeen on Tuesday night

From Celtic’s point of view let’s now make sure we don’t have to use that card again.

We got away with one yesterday, and we need to get back to winning ways starting against Aberdeen who visit Celtic park on Tuesday night. Three points are crucial Bhoys.

Just an Ordinary Bhoy
