Blackburn Rovers’ hopes of reaching the Championship play-offs appear to have suffered significantly after popular manager John Eustace departed Ewood Park to join relegation-threatened Derby County last week.
Eustace’s departure from Blackburn was motivated by reports that he did not feel supported by controversial club owners, The Venky’s. This sparked outrage among Rovers fans.
Interestingly, the Lancashire team has won their previous two games, including a 2-0 victory over play-off opponents West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday.
With Rovers in fine form under caretaker manager David Lowe, Football League World asked Blackburn fan pundit Simon Middlehurst which player on his squad should be concerned about this weekend’s opposition and why.

Simon told FLW: “There’s probably a couple of players, actually.
“Last couple of games we’ve seen a bit of resurgence from some of the players.
“Tyryhs Dolan, he’s looked really good these last couple of games, he looks like he’s hit some form.
“Makhtar Gueye, he’s really come into his own these last few games, he’s really starting to get to grips with the English game.
“So (I) definitely think he’s going to be one to watch out for, if he comes on or if he starts.
“(Augustus) Kargbo, very very exciting young talent, very very quick, loves to run at players, really tricky with his feet.
“There’s three players there that probably teams should watch out for.
“Callum Brittain, again, always his delivery.
“I’m going to go so far as to say he’s probably the best right-back in the league, in regards to his delivery crossing the ball and his assists that he’s got this season.”
Blackburn Rovers’ search for a new manager continues
Rovers remain in contention for a play-off berth despite Eustace’s departure. They currently rank fifth in the Championship table with 13 games remaining.

The Lancashire Telegraph reported on Monday that Gary O’Neil, former manager of Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers, is due to meet with the club this week.
TalkSport’s Alex Crook reported on X on Tuesday night that the former Wolves manager will not be joining the Championship club.
According to Alan Nixon, Rovers are interested in recruiting Leyton Orient manager Richie Wellens, but will need to pay a £250,000 compensation charge.
Former Premier League cult stars Luis Boa Morte and George Boateng will be interviewed for the position, according to The Sun.
Rovers will focus on beating Swansea on Saturday to make it three consecutive Championship wins.
And, as our Blackburn fan pundit, Simon, mentioned, the Lancashire club has a number of players who can cause problems for the faltering Swans.
