Southampton manager Juric admits need for ‘good results’

SAINTS manager Ivan Juric admitted he has not had any new conversations with his bosses but insisted “everybody is working a lot”.

Juric, 49, has overseen one win in his eight Premier League matches as head coach and the club are fighting against the wave of relegation.

Juric penned an 18-month contract at St Mary’s and has made clear his desire to lead the team in the Championship next season.

Saints recorded their first league win under Juric at Ipswich Town but have lost twice at home since, with Brighton up next today.

Asked if the club’s owners have outlined updated expectations to Juric, he responded: “No. We didn’t speak. I think everybody is working a lot.

“We want to secure a few good results and I’m optimistic that we can do it because there are really moments of the game that we are good and we have a bright game.

“We want to win and see what happens with the other teams and keep on.”

Juric was hired with one of his principle targets being to improve the side’s disastrous defensive record under former boss Russell Martin.

However, Saints have shipped 21 goals in his eight league matches, allowing three or more goals in five of those eight outings.

“I think we have some mistakes in defence and we are paying for this,” said Juric, asked if improving this record is still high on his priority list.

“I know that we will concede something but I want to score more. I want to be more aggressive, attacking more and we will see.
