‘Liverpool respond to Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak asking price’.

Liverpool are unlikely to be willing to match Newcastle United’s “incredibly high” asking price for the signing of Alexander Isak.

That is according to former Manchester United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who is still very well-connected in the league and has exclusively told Football Insider that if an agreement cannot be reached, they would investigate alternative possibilities. Newcastle are anticipated to seek roughly £150 million to accommodate the 25-year-old’s departure in the summer, despite increasing interest from Europe’s premier teams.

The price tags are intended to deter potential bidders for Isak, as Eddie Howe remains determined to keep his star player at St James’ Park beyond the conclusion of the season. Liverpool are thought to have been put off by the price tag since they do not want to spend a lot of money on a single player and would rather invest in the group as a whole. However, Football Insider reported on February 18 that the Reds will aim to entice Newcastle into a sale by including Darwin Nunez in a player-plus-cash swap deal.

Arne Slot has not been convinced by Nunez’s performances since his arrival at Anfield and could now look to take advantage of his high value.

Football Insider reported on February 16 that Liverpool’s interest in Isak is “genuine” and “very strong,” with Slot seeing him as the ideal addition for his team. Now, Brown, who has almost a decade of expertise in top-level player recruitment after working for Manchester United during their most successful period, has stated that it may be tough to reach an arrangement with Newcastle that benefits both teams.
