Six Newcastle United players ‘set to leave’ as official update confirms double deal & Paul Mitchell talks
Martin Dubravka and Emil Krafth signed to new contracts with Newcastle, the club revealed on Thursday. It is believed that both agreements will expire at the conclusion of the 2025–2026 season.
Six players are now likely to depart the team on a free transfer as a result of their contracts expiring at the end of the current campaign. However, discussions about possible new agreements are still going on, and the team might even consider exercising its options for an extension.
In order to keep the midfield player with the team for another season and prevent losing him for nothing in the summer, the club reportedly activated a one-year extension clause for Sean Longstaff, whose contract was originally scheduled to expire at the end of the current campaign.
Paul Mitchell, the sporting director, will lead the discussions. Following Dubravka’s new contract, Mitchell said, “Our conversations with Martin have been very positive and constructive.” The desire to achieve this result and retain him here was shared by all parties, as it is evident how significant the club is to him.
“He has made a big contribution to the club over the last seven years, typified by his recent performances, so we’re really pleased to be continuing our time together.”
“Losing players to free transfers is not something we want to be fighting as a football club for many different reasons,” Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe remarked in reference to possible new contracts for his players.
