Paul Merson makes ‘Simply Incredible’ David Moyes admission at Everton

After things soured under the former Burnley manager, the Scot returned to L4 to succeed Sean Dyche.

At times, Toffees supporters weren’t really enjoying victories because of the turgid and challenging style of play.

With Paul Merson expressing his opinion following one loss in six Premier League games, it is easy to state that this has altered under the current administration.

The most recent outcome versus Crystal Palace served as a reminder of the 61-year-old’s tactical acumen when playing.

In addition to being able to get on the ball and generate numerous opportunities of their own, his team knew when to take a backseat and absorb pressure.

The Toffees managed to win at Selhurst Park despite missing Iliman Ndiaye due to injury, making it 13 points out of a possible 18 since Moyes’ return.

Merson, a former player for Aston Villa and Arsenal, has been forced to retract his claims that the former Goodison manager wasn’t the best candidate to succeed Dyche.

Speaking to Sportskeeda (21 February), he said: “When Moyes came back to Everton after the departure of Sean Dyche, I personally didn’t think it was the right move.

“But look at the job he has done at Goodison Park so far, simply incredible.”

Many people are praising the Scottish head coach for the progress he has made since rejoining L4 earlier this year.

Some have been surprised by this, but in the end, Moyes is merely demonstrating his class again following a very successful stint at West Ham.

He can now look forward to a matchup with his old team, Manchester United, when the Toffees host the Red Devils at Goodison on Saturday, February 22.

It will be intriguing to watch if the L4 team can capitalize on Ruben Amorim’s shortcomings and continue their strong play.
