The Tractor Boys will “seriously consider” offers of £40 million for the 22-year-old, according to former Man United and Blackburn top scout Mick Brown, who is still very well-connected in the league, in an exclusive interview with Football Insider.
He continued by saying that with the amount of interest in signing Delap, Ipswich will have a hard time holding onto him if they get demoted this season.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that United are planning a “surprise” attempt to sign the striker amid worries over Rasmus Hojlund’s performances.
Ipswich paid £20million to get Delap from Man City last summer, and he has now proven his worth in the Premier League after scoring ten goals in 24 games.
Despite his team’s difficulties—they are currently in 18th position and only two points from safety—he has scored goals.
There is a perception that Ipswich will sell if they are relegated, but they will make sure his departure is on their terms because of the financial consequences of doing so and the striker’s desire to play at the highest level.

Ipswich want to double their money on Liam Delap sale
Delap is “desperate” to stay in the Premier League, and both Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in signing him, according to a February 10 Football Insider report.
After more than ten years at Manchester United at their most successful time, Brown, who has a wealth of knowledge in top-level player recruitment, insisted that clubs will keep an eye on the striker’s development until the end of the season before making a decision.
“They might have trouble keeping him,” he told Football Insider.
He will be on the list of strikers that these teams are interested in signing.
He’s a “could be” or “might be” player right now, but teams will watch him closely and decide at the end of the season.
“He plays in the Premier League every week, but if he moves away from Ipswich, it will be unclear if he will continue to play on a regular basis.
Is he superior to Hojlund, Rasmus? If you choose “yes,” how much does Delap cost you?
“To answer my own question, I believe Delap is better, so it could end up being a huge fee. Hojlund cost United about £70 million.”
The interest in him is not surprising, and he will be considered a marketable asset if Ipswich falters.
“I believe they would give serious consideration to offers of £40 million for him, particularly if they are demoted.”
“The £20 million they would be making on him would go a long way towards strengthening them, as they may decide they can’t afford to turn down offers like that.”
