How much is Paraag Marathe worth? Leeds United chair key to Rangers takeover bid by 49ers
According to reports, Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe is spearheading an attempt to acquire the Glasgow powerhouses, making Rangers the newest British football team to be controlled by 49ers Enterprises.
The Daily Record reports that after starting late last year, talks regarding a multi-million-pound investment are progressing. Along with at least one other partner, Marathe is reportedly essential to the idea as a member of an American consortium.
Leeds responded firmly with “no comment” when contacted about the story. Additionally, a Rangers representative stated: “We don’t comment on rumors. Such conversations, if they occurred, would be kept private.
18 months have passed since the Californian spearheaded Leeds’ ownership change in July 2023. Before taking over as chairman, Marathe served as vice-chairman for more than two of the club’s five years on the board of directors.
Outside of Elland Road, he serves as president of 49ers Enterprises, the NFL team’s investment division based in San Francisco. The franchise has the sixth-highest value in the league, valued at over £5 billion, according to Forbes.
They are owned by the York family; Denise DeBartolo York, the daughter of construction tycoon Edward J. DeBartolo Sr., and her husband John York share ownership. Marathe, on the other hand, has over a quarter of a century with the 49ers but is not nearly as valuable.
From the age of twelve to eighteen, the son of Indian parents worked and oversaw his pizza parlor. Prior to rising to the position of senior associate at management consulting company Bain & Company, Marathe was an account associate at International Management Group (IMG).
Up until 2023, he served as USA Cricket’s chairman for five years. Prior to taking on the position of executive vice president of football operations, he served as the 49ers’ chief operating officer and team president.
