Danika Priim played for Leeds Rhinos and Bradford Bulls and also represented England at the 2017 World Cup.

A former rugby league international turned pundit will step down from the Rugby Football League pending legal proceedings after she was charged with sexual assault.

Danika Priim is alleged to have assaulted a woman at Horsforth Cricket Club, in Leeds, on 22 July, 2022.

The 40-year-old will voluntarily stand down from her role as Vice President which she took up earlier this year.

She appeared before magistrates last Thursday and is due to appear in Leeds Crown Court on 13 March.

No pleas were entered during the previous hearing.

Priim, from Keighley, played in the Women’s Super League for Leeds Rhinos and Bradford Bulls and also represented England at the 2017 World Cup.

She retired from playing in 2021 and became a pundit featured on the BBC and Sky Sports.

Priim was recently appointed as vice-president of the Rugby Football League (RFL).

The RFL has now confirmed that Priim will “voluntarily stand down from her role… whilst ongoing legal proceedings take place”.
