CCTV footage of arrest of Ipswich murderer Logan Burnett

Police have released a video that documents the events leading up to Courtney Mitchell’s murder and the attacker’s subsequent apprehension.

Logan Burnett was arrested on Monday at Ipswich Crown Court for the August murder of 26-year-old Miss Mitchell in Ipswich’s Burrell Road.

In November, Burnett, who lived on All Saints Road in Ipswich, entered a guilty plea to murder.

Just after 7:10 p.m. on August 6 of last year, police were summoned to Burrell Road to report that a woman had been stabbed. Ipswich resident Miss Mitchell passed away in the hospital despite receiving attention from emergency personnel and members of the public, including critical care paramedics from Suffolk Accident Rescue Service.

A Home Office post-mortem examination concluded that the cause of death was fatal injuries from stab wounds to the chest.

Following the sentencing, Detective Superintendent Nicola Wallace said: “The sentence handed out by the court today can never bring back the life of a young woman who was attacked in the street of our county town on a summer’s evening.

“This vicious attack was orchestrated and executed in front of innocent bystanders and Courtney’s friends, all of whom are impacted by Logan Burnett’s conduct, which the judge referred to as “a personal execution” when imposing the sentence.

“I want to express my admiration for the courage of Courtney’s family, who spoke to the court today about the tragedy’s impact and will never forget the terrible events of August 6, 2024.

“Suffolk police are dedicated to addressing all forms of domestic violence in our communities in an effort to try and prevent such heinous attacks and the impact on victims and families in the future.”
