Taxi set on fire in ‘targeted arson attack’ in Watford today

Herts Police believe a taxi was set alight as a targeted arson attack in Watford today.

Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service had attended the blaze in Kensington Avenue, West Watford, at around 1.54am (February 20), and police have now confirmed that it is thought to be deliberate.

An appeal for information and CCTV footage from the public was shared this afternoon.

Detective Sergeant Andy Metselaar said: “I am appealing for witnesses, any information or CCTV footage of an incident which occurred during the early hours of today.

“Following initial enquiries, the circumstances of the fire are unclear although we do believe it is a targeted attack and are treating it as arson.

“We are asking the public for their assistance as we work to identify a suspect.
